Prerequisites
What you need before signing up — a device and browser, an Indian mobile number, your billing details, and optional counter hardware.
Kapda Stock runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install on a computer. Here is what to have ready.
A device and a modern browser#
- Desktop or laptop (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) — best for setup, reports and bulk work.
- Tablet or phone (Android or iOS) — fine for billing, stock checks and customers. The layout switches to a bottom tab bar on small screens.
- Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. Chrome or Edge is recommended on the billing counter because they support the one-tap install banner and the camera barcode scanner without extra steps.
- Allow the browser to use the camera if you want to scan barcodes or QR codes with a phone or webcam.
Details you will be asked for at sign-up#
| Detail | Rule |
|---|---|
| Business name | 2–120 characters. |
| Business username | 3–30 characters, lowercase letters and numbers only, must start with a letter. This is your login handle — pick something short you will remember (for example shahtextiles). The form checks availability as you type. |
| Owner name | 2–80 characters. |
| Mobile number | A 10-digit Indian mobile number starting with 6, 7, 8 or 9. Stored as +91XXXXXXXXXX. Each number can be used for one business only. |
| A valid address you can read — the welcome message and password-reset codes go here. Each email can own one business. | |
| Password | At least 12 characters with one uppercase letter, one number and one special character. |
| Billing details | Legal name, billing address (line 1, city, state, 6-digit PIN code). GSTIN is optional — an unregistered shop can leave it blank; GST is charged on your subscription either way. |
| GSTIN (optional) | 15 characters in the format 01AAAAA0000A1Z5. Needed for GST invoices, e-invoicing and e-way bills later, and it can be added in Settings at any time. |
| Payment method | Card, UPI or net banking through Razorpay to activate your plan. |
Optional hardware for the counter#
| Hardware | Notes |
|---|---|
| 80 mm thermal receipt printer | Any printer that speaks ESC/POS — the standard in Indian textile shops. See Printing & PDF. |
| Barcode scanner | A USB or Bluetooth scanner that acts as a keyboard works out of the box. A phone camera also works. See Barcodes & labels. |
| A4 printer | For invoice PDFs when a customer needs a full-page GST invoice. |
Third-party accounts (only if you use those features)#
These are never required to get started. Connect them later from Settings when you need them:
- Meta WhatsApp Business (Cloud API) — to send WhatsApp messages from your own number instead of the platform number. See WhatsApp.
- Razorpay — to collect online payments from your customers. See Razorpay (customer payments).
- Retell AI — for automated voice calls. See AI calling.
- Google account — for Google Drive backups. See Google Drive backup & restore.
