ABC analysis

Rank products by revenue and classify them A, B or C using the Pareto rule — the few items that drive most of your sales, and the long tail that ties up space and money.

Tiles#

Total revenue, and the number of Class A items, Class B items and Class C items.

Charts and table#

  • Revenue by class — how much each class earns.
  • Product rankingProduct, Class, Qty sold, Revenue, Gross profit, Cumulative %, highest revenue first.

How classes are assigned#

  1. Products sold in the period are ranked by revenue.
  2. A running total of each product's share of revenue is kept (Cumulative %).
  3. Products are A until the running total reaches about 80%, then B until about 95%, and the rest are C.
  4. The product that crosses a threshold belongs to the higher class.

Typically a small number of products are class A.

Only products that sold in the period appear — items with no sales are not classified. Empty state: No sales in this period.
