Day book

The daily cash register built automatically from sales and payments — what counts as cash in and out, opening and closing balances, closing a day, the nightly auto-close, and PDF/Excel exports.

The day book is your cash register for each day in IST: what came into the till, what went out, and the balance carried forward. You never type sales into it — it assembles itself from what happens in the app.

What it includes#

Only cash movements are counted:

UPI, card, bank transfer and cheque receipts are not cash, so they do not appear here — they are still in your sales, ledgers and reports.

Balances#

Opening = the previous day's closing balance.
Closing = opening + cash in − cash out.

Today's day book#

On the Finance hub, Day book — DD/MM/YYYY lists today's entries (each with its type and note, green for in and red for out) and Opening ₹X → Closing ₹Y. Empty state: No cash movements today.

Closing a day#

Close day (Admin) fixes the day's closing balance, and the day shows a Closed badge. Every day is also closed automatically at 11:55 PM IST, so you do not have to remember. Closing is safe to repeat.

The Day Book page#

Finance → Day Book (/app/finance/daybook) — Cash in / out by day — IST boundaries:

Choose a period: This month, Last month, This FY, Last FY or a custom range.
Tiles show Cash in, Cash out and Net for the period.
Daily cash movement lists each Date with Cash in, Cash out, Net and a Total row.
Single-day detail shows one day's entries and whether it is Closed.

Download PDF — a CA-formatted day book for the period.
Download Excel — the same data as an .xlsx workbook.

Locked months#

After month-end closing, entries dated in that month are rejected with MM/YYYY is locked — month-end closing completed.
